JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Caretaker

Responsible to: Clerk / Deputy Clerk

Salary: £7,893.60

Hours: 12 hours per week

Places of Work: Luke O’Connor House, Maesgwyn and Parciau Community Centres

Main Duties: -

· Ensuring the Community Council’s buildings are secure by undertaking the opening and locking up duties in accordance with instructions from the Clerk / Deputy Clerk.

· Liaise with Deputy Clerk to ensure room arrangements and equipment are set up in accordance with layout plans and information provider by hirers.

· To provide welcoming and high-quality dervice to hirers in respect of appearance and equipment to the Community Council’s facilities.

· Undertake regular cleaning of the Community Council’s buildings on a rotational basis to be agreed with Clerk / Deputy Clerk.

· Undertake Health and Safety training as required ensuring safe working practices are adhered to. The Community Council will provide all uniform and PPE.

· Liaise with Contractors undertaking works on Community Council buildings and equipment. Ensure they have access to required work areas and ensure correct health and safety precautions are in place to exclude public access from areas of work.

· Assist with fire evacuation of the Community Council’s buildings and fire alarm testing.

· To undertake such other duties as may be requested by Clerk / Deputy Clerk.

General Duties: -

· Internal and external painting and decorating services throughout the buildings and properties operated by the Community Council.

· The repair and maintenance of internaland external woodwork throughout the buildings and properties operated by the Community Council.

· To assist with the development of Maintenace and Work Plans for minor building works throughout the buildings and properties operated by the Community Council.

· The repair and maintenance of the Community Council’s internal equipment and assets.

· The repair and maintenance of the Community Council’s street furniture.

· To source and collect matertials and tools from approved Community Council Suppliers to carry out duties.

· To maintain and keep clean tools, equipment and vehicles used in the performance of the defined duties.

· To be prepared to work at height, both internally and externally, with this being subject to the appropriate training being given.

· To act in a manner which ensures the health and safety at work of self, other members of staff and members of the public.

· To account for working hours through the completion of timesheets.

· To be prepared to supplement or assist with caretaker duties, with notice as directed.

· Any other duties as required.

N.B. Shifts will include late nights and weekends. As a result of this periods of lone working will occur.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENT

Qualifications

Good standard of English and mathematics equivilent to GCSE grade C.

Experience / knowledge of Local Government and environment.

Previous experience of shift working and being a responsible keyholder.

Communications and Related Skills.

Excellent customer service skills and a “can-do” attitude.

Interpersonal.

Flexible and adaptable.

 
 

Physical Abilities.

Appreciation of health and safety, lifitng and moving of objects as well as ladder work.

Physical ability to move furniture to setup and clear rooms. To clean to a high standard.

 

Training.

First aid, Manual Handling, Health and Safety, Working at Height and COSHH

Attending training courses.
